Woman Dies in Hillsborough County House Of Corrections

On June 18, 2023, at approximately 10:45 pm., Hillsborough County Department of Corrections Officers and Medical staff responded to a medical emergency within the facility.

Staff performed life-saving measures however, Jessica Cook, 40, no known home address, was later pronounced deceased by responding American Medical Response staff. After a preliminary review of the facts of this incident, the death is not deemed suspicious in nature.

Ms. Cook was being held on Cash Bailout of Hillsborough Superior Court – North on charges of Failure to Appear since June 15, 2023.

Ms. Cook's emergency contact was notified. The Hillsborough County Department of Corrections and the Superintendent express their condolences to Ms. Cook's family.
