SWAT Stand-Off Ends Peacefully
Updated: Dec 31, 2022
On December 29, 2022, at approximately 4:30 pm, Manchester Police responded to Myrtle Street for a report of a male with a gun.
Witnesses told police a man was holding a gun and screaming, and when confronted by one of them, pointed the gun in their direction. The man then went inside the apartment building.
Arriving officers could see and hear a male yelling in a second-floor apartment. Given the serious nature of the incident, a perimeter was set up, and a negotiator attempted to make contact with the individual, identified as 30-year-old Tyler Campbell of Manchester.
As a precaution, officers asked residents of neighboring buildings to shelter in place and the SWAT team was deployed.
Campbell ignored the officer’s commands to leave the building and threatened the police while on the phone with the negotiator.
Shortly before 7 pm, Campbell walked outside and was taken into custody by SWAT. During a search of the residence, police found multiple firearms.
Campbell was charged with Criminal Threatening and Resisting Arrest. He is scheduled for arraignment today (12/30/22) in Hillsborough Superior Court.
