Stabbing Investigation at Christos Kalivas Apartments

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire, AMR ambulance, and Manchester Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a hotel on Monday.

The first dispatch at about 6:10 a.m. was for 40 Lake Ave inside the hotel for a person who was stabbed. Fire and EMS were asked to wait for police to secure the scene. When police first arrived they could be seen searching the area and guarding the front door of the hotel with guns drawn.

Police gave clearance for fire and EMS to enter, and they immediately transported one person to the Elliot Hospital with what sources say were life-threatening injuries. MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel said: "The extent of his injuries are unknown and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment”

Hamel said through the investigation police determined that the stabbing happened at the Christos Kalivas Hi-Rise Apartment Building on Chestnut Street and the subject walked to the hotel.

One person was transported from the Chestnut Street scene and the injuries are unknown at this time.

This does not appear to be a random incident and all involved parties have been identified according to police. This is an active investigation and several roads are closed as police work. Lake Ave is closed from Pine Street to Elm Street and Chestnut Street is closed from Central Street to Cedar Street.

Guests of the hotel are allowed to exit the hotel using a back entrance, and the front entrance is blocked off with crime scene tape.

When police first arrived they could be seen searching the area and guarding the front door of the hotel with guns drawn.

Updates will be published as more information becomes available.
