Search and Rescue Efforts Continue for Woman who Fled Law Enforcement by Entering Merrimack River

On June 29, 2023, at approximately 8:07 pm, Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office conducted a check for a wanted person in an area along the Merrimack River near Commercial and Granite Street in Manchester. While conducting a check, a woman wanted for failing to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court North on possession of fentanyl and falsifying physical evidence fled from Deputies by entering the Merrimack River.

Deputies conducted a lengthy search of the area in an attempt to rescue the woman with assistance from the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Fire Department, Bedford Police Department, and the NH State Police, but she could not be located.

Search efforts were forced to a temporary halt late last night due to unsafe conditions including high water volume from significant rainfall in recent days. Coordinated search efforts resumed early this morning with additional assistance and resources provided by the NH Marine Patrol and NH Fish and Game.

The woman's identity is being withheld at this time pending updates from today's search efforts.
