Man Taken Into Custody In Prospect Street Standoff
Updated: Apr 21, 2022
Manchester Police SWAT and Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Department took a man into custody after a multiple-hour standoff on Prospect Street Wednesday.
Police responded to 242 Prospect Street a multi-unit building at about 10:15 a.m. to assist the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office who was trying to serve an eviction notice.
The man inside, identified as Brian Erunski 41, refused to come out and it was also determined that Erunski had several active warrants and was a convicted felon. Based on evidence inside the apartment, there was a concern for officer safety, related to a firearm possibly being inside the residence.
Members of the SWAT team secured a perimeter around the house that is located a few houses East of Russell Street. Police negotiated and asked for a man to come out of the building several times, and the man appeared to not respond to the request.
At about 1:00 p.m. SWAT deployed some sort of explosive device causing a loud noise that could be heard several blocks away. Police made entry and located Erunski hiding under a mattress and took him into custody.
After the man was taken into custody members of the Sherriff’s department were seen bringing paperwork into the building that is used as part of an eviction process.
An AMR Ambulance was at the scene when the incident started and stood by while police worked on the scene. No one appeared to be injured and the ambulance left without transporting anyone.
Erunski had active warrants including Stalking, Criminal Threatening, and Breach of Bail. He also faces a charge of Resisting Arrest for today’s incident.
