Local Favorite Cafe la Reine Celebrates 9 Years

We all have our favorite spots in Manchester, and when it comes to Elm Street there is no shortage of options for whatever you are in the mood for. Whether you are looking for a classy cocktail spot, a casual spot to grab a beer or a bite, or a cafe to fuel your day, Elm Street has something for everyone.

For many people, their day starts with coffee, that wonderful caffeine laden beverage that helps most of us get out of first gear, and being in Manchester, we certainly are lucky to have some excellent cafe options to choose from. One of these remarkable cafes is celebrating their 9th year in business on Elm Street - the longstanding, welcoming, Café La Reine.

Led by owner Alex Horton, Café La Reine has long been a choice for all to enjoy with a fun, safe, enjoyable atmosphere, but continuing to support Manchester businesses as well. “We are excited to start our 10th year in business stronger than ever! We are passionate about supporting local and are so happy to be working with Hometown Coffee Roasters, located right here in Manchester. We also just started working with a local tea company, 27 Teas. Our eggs and produce are locally sourced through The Fruit Center. We are happy to support so many programs and organizations throughout the city including the Palace Theatre and the Majestic Theatre, and continue to host our original music open mic, Java Jams with Alli Beaudry!” Horton told us.

With no shortage of creativity, it’s not hard to understand why Café La Reine has been around as long as it has. While Horton is certainly proud of her product, you can tell right away that the people are the true heart and soul she recognizes as the engine that keeps it all going.

“I’m so grateful for my staff, especially my managers, Dominique Gibson and Richard Currier, for sticking with me through the toughest times these past two years.” Horton explains. “I am so grateful to the Manchester, NH, community for welcoming us nine years ago. Downtown Manchester is such an incredible and vibrant community of small business owners!”

With multiple giveaways celebrating 9 years in business, such as giveaways of merch, tumblers, free iced coffee and more, there’s no shortage of celebration; but Horton explains that there’s even more to look forward to.

“Stay tuned for big news coming soon…a second location with a new concept is in the works! Follow us @cafelareine [on Instagram and Facebook] to stay up to date!”

Join us in congratulating Alex and her team’s 9th year in business on Elm Street, a welcomed presence that we look forward to being here another 9, and beyond.
