Judge Temporarily Stops Encampment Eviction
New Hampshire ACLU filed a lawsuit today requesting an immediate hearing to stop the eviction of unhoused individuals at the encampment at Pine and Manchester Streets.
A hearing was held today with Superior Court Judge John C. Kissinger, who temporarily stopped the eviction while he considered arguments from the ACLU and the City of Manchester. The City of Manchester agreed not to take action until the judge rules on the suit, which is expected to occur next week.
The encampment, which may contain up to 50 people, received notice from the city that it must be fully vacated by midnight on Tuesday, January 17.
Updates will be posted as they unfold.
